We can take good care of our bodies so that we live more comfortably in them, but we can’t stop the aging process. Yoga is an intelligent and inspiring way to maintain our own vitality, and those of our students.
By tending to our bodies mindfully, with skill and compassion, we can continue to build strength, increase mobility and find balance, often while also dealing with chronic conditions associated with aging. With knowledge and specific guidelines, we will be empowered to adapt our practice to our changing bodies, hearts and minds.
Join Barbara in this 3-hour workshop to learn why and how to safely modify an asana practice to meet every student exactly where they are. We’ll learn how to support individual needs knowing that we may be different from day to day. We’ll discuss safety guidelines and contraindications for particular conditions or limitations, including osteopenia/osteoporosis, arthritis, joint replacements, back health, etc. We will practice and move, and we will rest and restore. We will breathe, and we will sit in stillness. We will embrace the ancient yoga teachings to support our efforts to find strength, stability, equanimity, and compassion as we seek longevity.
