If you have a regular yoga practice and have received a diagnosis of osteoporosis or osteopenia, it is important to understand how yoga can help stimulate bone growth, as well as how to modify your practice to stay safe and avoid fractures.
There are many people at risk for osteoporosis and osteopenia, if you are a yoga teacher, it is likely some of them are showing up in your classes. As teachers, we strive to “do no harm,” therefore, it is important for us to understand these conditions, identify who may be at risk, and learn how to keep our students safe.
In addition to discussion and lecture, there will be a short “bone healthy” yoga practice.
Topics will include:
Understanding osteoporosis and osteopenia
Precautions and modifications for traditional yoga postures
How stress affects bone health
How stress-reducing practices (such as yoga) can help
Virtual or In-Studio (limited in-studio spaces available).
Registration is required.
