Advanced Studies Module 5: Gunas - Finding Balance

Module 5 Square.png

According to the teachings of Yoga, the world we live in is ruled by and the gunas (Sanskrit for strands or qualities). These dynamic forces of nature weave together to form the universe and everything in it. In order to find peace within the constant shifting of energy, we must learn to find balance, and eventually to rise above the duality of the world.

In this workshop, we will explore the concepts of Prana and the gunas, along with the fundamental beginnings of Hatha Yoga as and Ayurvedic principals as balancing practices for the body. We will look at the twisting asanas, their variations, and ways of working them into sequencing with other floor poses.

Our Modules were created to give teachers and advanced students a deeper understanding of the Yoga asanas, philosophical teachings, anatomy as it relates to more advanced asanas, and various other aspects of yoga. There are a total of 6 Advanced Studies Modules. We offer 3 Modules each year in a rotating sequential order. They are taught primarily by Trace Sahaja Bonner, E-RYT 500; Kat Hendrix, E-RYT 500, MS, PhD; and Kate Hudson, 500hr YT. These Modules do not need to be taken in any specific order, however, all 6 of the Modules are required for successful completion of the 300-hour Advanced Studies Program.
