Our modules were created to give the teacher or experienced student a deeper understanding of the yoga asanas, philosophical teachings, yoga history, and anatomy as it relates to some of the more advanced yoga postures. The three modules are comprised of the original six Advanced Studies modules that were previously required. All three modules are offered once per year in sequential order. They are taught primarily by Trace Sahaja Bonner, E-RYT 500, Sonia Lennartz, 500hr and Kate Hudson, 500hr. Those taking the modules as part of the Advanced Studies program must complete each module or equivalent study. These programs do not need to be taken in any specific order.
Dharma to Isvara: Opening and Surrendering
In this module, we explore backbends, which open the heart, and forward bends, which turn us inward. When we work both of these types of poses, it can help release blockages in not only the spine, but also in the energy body. We will begin by taking a look at the base of spine, exploring the sacrum as the root of our energy, and how stabilizing this energy root can encourage the opening of the heart. Time will be spent on various back bending asana, along with variations, structure, and alignment associated with each. Next we will turn our attention to forward bends, studying the structure, alignment, and variations of these counter poses to the backbend.
