Holy Cow Yoga Center is delighted to present Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian, a long-time researcher of cancer therapies, who will share his knowledge and techniques of breathing for heath and wellness. At his recent TED talk here in Charleston, SC, he describes the healing power of the ancient breathwork called Pranayama and how it shows markers for cancer reduction. We will explore the science and techniques from the Yogic tradition, such as alternate-nostril breathing and sound vibrations (bhajans).

Chanting is Pranayama (learning traditional songs from Yogic text)
Easy tips for daily practice- Physiology & Anatomy of Breathing
This Immersion is suitable for Yoga teachers looking to incorporate Pranayama into their teaching & for anyone who would like to deepen their understanding of Pranayama and its healing aspects. Advanced Studies participants earn 5 hours of credit.

Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian is a Cell Biology researcher currently studying mechanisms involved in resistance to cancer therapy at MUSC. He is also a Yoga Biology researcher and has written several papers on the evidence of Yoga Practice promoting well-being. Sundar grew up in Tamilnadu, India with a background in Yoga and Siddha medicine. He continues to learn from Yoga Masters from the East and West.
