The word “Vinyasa” is often thrown around to mean “flow” or to describe the practice of linking movement with the breath, but the actual translation is “to move consciously.” The idea is similar to the concept of the larger central bead on a rosary or mala. The break in the repetition or pattern brings our attention back to the beginning where we start again…and again…and again. Each time we are reminded be aware of the present moment.
During this workshop, we will focus on asanas that relate to the traditional Vinyasa of Hatha Yoga (Down Dog, Up Dog, Chaturanga, etc.), as well as other postures that can heighten our sensitivity to the present moment. We will also explore sequencing, themes, and methods of consciously weaving Vinyasa into an inspiring class. Our weekend will finish with a look at “practice.” and how Samadhi supports understanding of practice.
Our Modules were created to give teachers and advanced students a deeper understanding of the Yoga asanas, philosophical teachings, anatomy as it relates to more advanced asanas, and various other aspects of yoga. There are a total of 6 Advanced Studies Modules. We offer 3 Modules each year in a rotating sequential order. They are taught primarily by Trace Sahaja Bonner, E-RYT 500; Kat Hendrix, E-RYT 500, MS, PhD; and Kate Hudson, 500hr YT. These Modules do not need to be taken in any specific order, however, all 6 of the Modules are required for successful completion of the 300-hour Advanced Studies Program.
