The Roots of Ashtanga with Tim Feldmann

Full Weekend: $150

Tim will join us virtually to share the both the practice of Ashtanga and its roots. We begin understanding the form and alignment of Half Primary Series both Saturday and Sunday and follow both days with a deeper philosophical understanding of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga. Tim is the founder and captain of the world-wide recognized Miami Life Center which he created together with his wife Kino MacGregor. He has practiced yoga since 1994 and Ashtanga Since 1999. Authorized to teach by Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois he explores core concepts and modern boundaries of Patanjali’s yoga teachings alike. A practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga’s Advanced A Series Tim is dedicated to Ashtanga’s traditional method. Drawing upon his past as an internationally successful dancer and acclaimed choreographer, anatomy, alignment and technique is his second nature. Tim has been pursuing in-depth studies of Patanjali, Sankhya and Vedanta over the past 7 years with Vidwan Nagaraja Rao, Jayashree & Narasimha and other exceptional scholars in India. Cherished worldwide for his fun, disciplined and detailed pursuit of authentic yoga and his compassionately effective touch, Tim travels to Yoga Shalas around the globe with the inclusive message of how study, steadiness and devotion is the means to powerful transformation both inside and outside of us.

Detailing Half Primary Series, Part I (sun salutes - standing postures)
In this class we begin in the classic yoga postures of Ashtanga opening sequence. We will allow for inspired technical detail and useful hints for moving your practice along, potentially bridging spiritual gaps between your body, the practice and how it applies to our lives off the mat. We will explore anatomical mechanics for a deeper, injury free and more informed practice, as well as touching on the background of the Ashtanga method. Tim's sincere, down-to-earth and humorous teaching style makes for a fun, focussed and reverent experience. While this is Ashtanga Vinyasa based, the details we learn can be applied to these postures in all forms of Hatha. (individual cost $45)

2:00pm - 4:00pm

Applied Patanjali

This lecture explores how Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras applies directly and practically to our living and how we can find these ancient teachings in their purest form in our asana practice. This class aims to be a useful aid for getting on your mat, finding or refining a deeper connection with the yoga dharma. We will finish with 45 minutes of Q&A.  (individual cost $35)

Sunday, November 1

8:30am - 11:00am 

Detailing Half Primary Series, Part 2 (sun salutes - standing postures)

Taking yesterday’s learning out for a spin, we will commence the class by flowing through the traditional Ashtanga sequencing of the Sun Salutations and Standing Series. We will then change gears into a more focused work-through of the common yoga postures which creates the fabric of Ashtanga's seated series. We will explore these postures anatomical foundation, as you learn sound alignment and injury prevention while keeping a keen eye towards yoga’s more ambitious aim of freeing our hearts and minds.  (individual cost $55)

11:30am - 1:00pm

Applied Patanjali

We will continue our conversation through a deeper philosophical lecture on how Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras applies directly and practically to our living life as a “practice.”. This class is about learning tools to move through our life in a spiritually connected way. We will finish with 30 minutes of Q&A.
