The Power of Practice: Strength, Lightness and Awareness in Ashtanga with Heidi

Join Heidi for a 4-hour Ashtanga workshop designed to deepen your understanding of the key transitions and principles that support strength, balance, and ease in your practice.

Through detailed instruction, drills, and mindful repetition, we’ll refine the mechanics behind some of the most challenging yet rewarding elements of the Ashtanga method.

We’ll Explore:

Jump Backs & Jump Throughs

Refine the connection between breath, bandha, and momentum to create a lighter, more controlled transition. Learn preparatory movements and techniques that build strength and coordination over time.

Headstands & Inversions

Develop stability, alignment, and confidence in Sirsasana and other inversions. We’ll work progressively, with modifications and wall support to meet each practitioner where they are.

Chakrasana & Chaturanga

Understand the key alignment principles for safe and sustainable shoulder strength. We’ll explore how these transitional postures can become gateways to greater awareness and refined control.

Cooling Down & Pranayama

Closing with guided pranayama to calm the nervous system and integrate the benefits of the practice.

Why Heidi Loves Ashtanga:

Ashtanga yoga has become a cornerstone in my life, transforming both my body and mind. It’s a practice that demands focus, strength, and dedication, pushing me physically with every breath and movement. The structured sequence offers a consistent challenge, making me stronger, more flexible, and more resilient.

Beyond the physical, it’s the mental fortitude I’ve gained that truly stands out. Each time I step onto the mat, it’s a commitment to myself—to show up, to grow, and to cultivate discipline. Ashtanga has taught me to embrace discomfort, knowing that growth lies just beyond it. The practice is a reminder that consistency and effort are key, not just in yoga, but in every aspect of life.

Through Ashtanga, I’ve found a sense of balance, a way to reconnect with myself, and a deepened awareness of the mind-body connection. It’s more than just a physical workout; it’s a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and empowerment.
