Hit the Wall with Tracy Huchingson

The wall can be fabulous yoga prop. And for those who are thinking the words “wall” and “prop” imply an easy or non-challenging class, you’re in for a surprise.

The wall can give us feedback that helps improve our alignment. It can also be used in a variety of postures and poses to close the kinetic chain, promoting joint stability and recruiting more assistance from more muscles. The feeling of strength you get when using the wall in certain poses has the power to change those poses for you forever.

In this 90-minute class, we will use the wall to enhance certain poses as we move through a fun flow series. Then we’ll make our way to the floor to explore how the wall can transform some of the more common seated asanas, as well as how basic inversions can become safe, fun, and accessible to everybody once when the wall is involved. And finally, because we have extra time, we will end with an extra long savasana.

Variations and modifications will be offered to make this class appropriate for most levels, however, some yoga experience or familiarity is recommended. 

If you’re planning to participate from home, an empty wall is ideal, however you closed door, kitchen island, or other very solid, immovable object that is waist high or higher can work as well. We will also be using two blocks for the practice.

This class is offered only in-studio and requires proof of vaccination.
